In search of Fried Bacon....

So, our family made our annual pilgrimage to the great State Fair of Texas on Sunday. What a blast! We met our friends, the Kesler family, for a few hours. Craig Kesler is Sully's soccer coach and his wife and I have become friends through soccer and our preschool group. The Keslers went early because they had to be back home for a tennis match at 4 and we had to go a little later so that we could go to church. Anyway, the pics of the kiddos above are after the Keslers had been there for 4 hours (hence the reason little Taylor was not having it) and the Hale boys hadn't been there long but were super excited to be w/their friends (hence the reason Sully has Brooks in a headlock)...haha.

We rode rides, played games, and Mike Hale continued his tradition of trying to sample as much fair food as possible (I am not a big fair food fan). He interviewed various patrons along the way to ask them for their "favorite fair food" and got fixated on finding one man's suggestion: fried bacon. Ugh!! After hours of searching w/no luck he finally gave up and ordered his second Fletcher's corn dog of the day as a consolation prize.

We came home exhausted at 7 pm after leaving the house at 11 am. Hale and I figure that we walked at least 5 miles at the fair, if not more...we are still feeling it the day after. It was a godsend that the Keslers rented a side by side stroller for their kiddos and let us take it for the remainder of the day...the Hale boys could really hang in there considering that they were able to ride everywhere...a definite must for next year!
